Venge Vineyards
The Venge family came to the US from Denmark in the early 1900s and, for nearly a half-century, has farmed wine grape varieties in Napa Valley. Nils Venge launched this tradition in the 1960s when he enrolled at UC Davis to study viticulture. In 1976, the family's viticultural roots flourished with the purchase of a 17-acre vineyard planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the Oakville District. This cast the Venges among the valley’s winemaking pioneers.
Nils' son, Kirk, gravitated to winemaking at an early age, proving to be as talented a winemaker as his father while making wines with his own vision and style. In 2008, Kirk achieved his lifelong dream when he acquired full ownership of Venge Vineyards and then purchased a 12½ acre vineyard in the foothills of the Palisades Mountains in Calistoga, determined to found a new estate winery from which to build his own legacy while extending the family’s Napa Valley tradition. Instilled with his father’s vision of excellence, Kirk continues to focus on select vineyard sites that produce fruit that is handled gently and naturally produces wine worthy of bottling under the Venge name.
