From their original vineyard property located mid-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco in the heart of California’s Central Coast region, the Hope family has been farming grapes in Paso Robles since 1978, when they were among a handful of pioneers who helped to shape and gain recognition for this now highly-acclaimed winegrowing area. Today, 3rd-generation farmer Austin Hope directs winemaking and viticulture for their family of brands, remaining uncompromising in his pursuit of exceptional quality wines that reflect the stunning and distinct qualities of the region.
The Hope Family of wines includes 5 individually unique and collectively complementary brands. The Treana label, consisting of a proprietary white and red blend, symbolizes a trinity of natural elements – sun, soil, and ocean – that make the Central Coast an exceptional area for wine grapes. The eponymous Austin Hope label is devoted to creating the best Syrah in California, while the Westside Red “Troublemaker” is a playful but delicious Rhône-style red blend. The Candor brand includes an affordable Merlot and Zinfandel which are each straightforward varietal expressions, and Liberty School is all about quality, consistent, value-oriented wines.
With wide distribution and broad international recognition, it may be surprising to discover the multi-generation family tradition that underlies and continues to drive this group of brands. But Hope’s operating principles are living proof that ambition and growth can be achieved without any compromise on quality.
