Wine Notes
The fruit for our Sofia Blanc de Blancs is grown in the cool vineyards of the Arroyo Seco in northern Monterey County. This appellation, like California’s other principle growing regions, experienced an exceptional 2009 vintage, where the grapes ripened evenly throughout the season. Because there were no weather extremes, the fruit showed excellent ripeness, tremendous structure and perfect balance.
We pick our grapes at lower sugar levels to ensure that our wine has a lower alcohol content. The fruit is whole-cluster pressed into stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation, and then blended before undergoing secondary fermentation using the Charmat method. Adding small amounts Riesling into the blend adds a succulent, juicy flavor of pineapple, while the inclusion of Muscat confers a gorgeous perfume of honeysuckle and apricots.
TASTING NOTES
This unique blend of Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Muscat, is a delicate sparkling wine perfect for any celebration. It offers seductive flavors, fresh aromatics and light effervescence—all packaged with striking, feminine flair.
Our 2009 Sofia Blanc de Blancs offers bright aromas of tangerine, peaches and pears along with a beautiful note of honeysuckle. Light and elegant on the palate, sweet hints of tropical fruit and pineapple mingle with quince and zesty green apples.
