Wine Notes
Treana White is a blend of 2 class Rhone varieties which flourish in California’s central Coast. In fact, the Hope family helped pioneer the now-thriving category of California white Rhone blends with the release of the 1996 Treana White.
The majority of the fruit in this blend is from the Santa Lucia Highlands, which benefits from the cooling breezes coming off the Monterey Bay. Yields in Monterey County were down in 2008 due to a relatively dry winter, followed by a cold spring. Moderate temperatures during the growing season enabled the grapes to experience longer than usual hang time on the vines, while still maintaining their acidity and balanced sugar levels. The resulting fruit was of exceptional quality with complex and concentrated flavors.
TASTING NOTES
The 2008 Treana White’s color is reminiscent of the golden hillsides of the California Central Coast at harvest time. A beautiful bouquet of peaches and lime is bolstered by aromatic notes of honeysuckle. Full in body and rich in flavor, the wine invigorates the palate with dried apricot, pineapple, subtle citrus flavors and notes of honey, which continue through a long finish. This wine will age beautifully over the next decade!
