Wine Notes
This Estate Grenache was cropped from an estimated 10-12 tons per acre to 4 tons per acre to improve the intensity of the flavor and the color. The grapes were hand picked and fermented in our winery. Because the tannins in Grenache are naturally very low, which can affect aging potential, it is often blended with another grape. However, the Grenache from our vineyard has stood the test of time, as evidence by our first vintage in 2004 which today is drinking just beautifully! Thus we have returned to an unblended expression of this delicate grape.
TASTING NOTES
With its light brick-to-rose red color, this Grenache is almost Pinot-like in appearance, but the aromas of roast pork smoke and tobacco suggest you are in for something different! As the wine opens, it reveals smoky notes surrounding vibrant strawberry and sour black cherry fruit flavors. While light in body, the palate is fresh and lively with plenty of fruit, good acidity and soft tannins to round out the finish. It provides a lovely complement to rotisserie-cooked meat dishes as well as barbecue.
